Accidental Cowgirl: Six Cows, No Horse and No Clue, is a lighthearted personal memoir of a greenhorn’s life on a small cattle ranch (think The Egg and I meets City Slickers). Mary Lynn Archibald’s book was a three-time award winner (two for humor, one for memoir). She says: “In 1990 we heard the wilderness call to us, and, God help us, we answered. We had no business trying to run a full-time ranch—at our age— with no experience.
“People tried to tell us that ‘The Simple Life’ wasn’t so simple, but we weren’t listening. We took one look at Twin Creeks Ranch, and fell in love.
“With one stroke of the pen our relaxation plan was gone. It was crazy. It was exhausting. It was one of the most uplifting experiences of our lives.”
